After leaving university , I went to work for an accountancy practice that was based near Marble Arch in the West End of London. Whilst working mainly in audit and accountancy production, I gained significant experience through long periods in the taxation department, the statutory department and the department responsible for bookkeeping. The clients that I worked on were similarly varied, ranging from sole traders to PLC’s and a wide variety of different industries.

I decided that I liked working most in the SME sector, and so after three years, I moved to a small firm in North London, which gave me greater experience of working in general practice covering all aspects for a regular portfolio of clients.

In 1998, I started Excalibur as a sole trade, and in 2002, the practice was large enough for my partner to leave her employment and we transferred the business into a jointly owned, limited company. Since then, the business has flourished and we have never looked back!
